Getting hosting is not all that hard it just takes a few minutes. Here is an instructional guide on how to get hosting, install WordPress on your site then, then create a separate admin account for me to build your site. You can choose what ever hosting you want I have worked with HostGator and I really like their services so here are the instructions for how to use them. If you want to use another hosting then there are tons of tutorials on how to set up an account and install WordPress on YouTube. Most of the steps are very similar so you probably should be able to use my instructions for other services.
How To Create A HostGator Account
- Go to HostGator.com (Affiliate Link)
- Hover over “Hosting” at the top and click “Shared Hosting”.
- Choose Hosting Plan and click “Buy Now” underneath. If you want only one website then click the “Hatchling Plan”, if you want more than one website then I suggest you use the “Baby Plan” you don’t really need the “Business Plan” unless you really want to make an online business go viral and have lots of page views.
- Type the Domain Name you’d like to register into the box at the top.
- Choose “Domain Extension” using the drop-down menu to the right.
- Under this, uncheck the box beside “domain privacy protection” (optional).
- Double-check our “Package Type” is correct.
- Choose a “Billing Cycle” (how often you’ll pay). I’d recommend going for 12 months or more, as you get a great discount compared to monthly billing and a FREE domain name!
- Enter Email Address.
- Create Password & Security PIN for HostGator account.
- Fill out your personal billing info (name, email address, etc).
- Scroll down to where it says “Add Additional Services”. I normally just uncheck these boxes myself (they are completely optional and normally not all that important).
- Delete the current coupon code.
- Enter the coupon code: SiteBuilder1 (and click Validate).
- Scroll down and check the box to agree to the Terms of Service.
- Click “Check out Now!”.
- Pay for your order. – Log into HostGator cPanel After successful payment, you’ll be brought to a page thanking you for your order.
Log Into HostGator cPanel
- Close out of the HostGator page.
- Open your email inbox (the one you used when signing up).
- Click into the email titled “Your Account Info”
- Click the link beside “Your Control Panel”. This will open up the cPanel in a new tab.
- Copy and paste username and password from the email, into the cPanel login screen.
- Click “Login”.
Installing WordPress
- Scroll down to the “Software” section.
- Click on “WordPress Manager”.
- Click “Install”.
- Scroll down and enter your Username, Password, and Email Address. Everything else on the page is optional.
- Scroll down to the bottom and click “Install”. At this point, HostGator will install WordPress for you (This should take less than a minute). Once they are finished, we can click the link beside “Admin URL”, to open up the WordPress Dashboard. And this is where we can add me as an administrator.
Setting Up A New Admin Account
- Once you are in the WordPress Dashboard you will see a list of actions the one you want is “Users” either click or mouse over “Users.”
- Click “Add New”
- On the page you will see boxes for “Username”, “Email”, and the like.
- For the user name use “RickDavis”
- Email use “contact@innovative-designs.org”
- First name “Rick” optional.
- Last Name “Davis” optional.
- Website “www.innovative-designs.org” optional.
- Password this autogenerates a password for you, you can click to auto generate a new one but this is not necessary.
- Make sure the box is checked for “Send User Notification”
- For the role select the drop down menu and select “Administrator”
- Important before you hit add new user copy the username you gave me and the password for me. I know it will email these details but I like redundancy.
- Click “Add New User” and let me know.
- I will start working on your site right away and get it going.
